How to pay for something without using my steam wallet funds?
I have a prepaid visa gift card that expires in a month or so. I would like to use it up so I added it as a payment method on steam. Then I went to the community market to try and buy something, but it only gave me the option to pay using my Steam wallet. Is there a way to prioritize the gift card over my wallet so i can empty it faster? In the "plalce order" menu there is no option to change my payment method. I just automatically chooses my wallet.

When you are on the purchase screen you should see something like:

Payment method: My Steam Wallet (Change)

Click (change) should allow you to pick something else.
But it always defaults to the Steam Wallet if there are any funds in it.

You will need to use the Visa gift card to buy wallet funds. Wallet funds do not expire so you can leave them on the account as long as you wish too.

Thanks to both of you for the advice! I tried using the guilde Glimmer posted and it looks like it would've worked if my gift card balance weren't below $5 (i tested a number above 5). For anybody else, this would've been the answer, but I guess I just can't with a balance this low. I'll just use up the balance elsewhere. Thanks again!

Try Amazon. That's where I usually dump leftover Visa gift card balances. Haven't done one for less than $5, but it's worth a shot.
