Steam $1 Charge
So if you don't know, there's a $1 charge every time you add a credit card as a payment method to make sure it works. So after steam charged it for me, the credit card thought it looked suspicious and asked me about it. At that time, I didn't know about the charge, so I agreed to terminate the card because I thought it was a scam. I only realized what it was after. Steam is supposed to return the $1, but since the card is gone, is there some way I can get it back? Like add it to my steam wallet or something?

they never took the money. it is only done to verify that the card is valid. The charge would of simply cancelled itself after a few days to a week, depending on the cards policy.

Then why does it show they charged $1? That means they still charged a dollar, even if they would cancel it right?

it cancels on its own because they never collect the money. its only a verification charge, nothing more.

Well even if they don't collect the money, they still charged it, right?

you are focusing on something that is 100% unimportant and meaningless.

Yes, they charged it, and they didnt collect the $1, nor where you billed for the $1, nor are you expected to pay for the $1 that they never collected since that will cancel. Most people never see the $1 charged because they dont look at their statements often enough and when the bill is sent to them, the $1 has dropped off and they never even know it was done since it does not show on the final bill they have to pay for using the credit card for that month.

Well I'm sorry if it looks like I'm worried about something unimportant, but that isn't my credit card, and I'm worried about what I've done.

That is how all credit cards work.

Store verifies card is legitimate, makes a low amount transaction.
CC reports success, you tell store amounts, store knows card is good.
Transaction is never completed as it's just a verification charge.
Transaction drops off after CC company's policy dictates.

This goes for debit cards too, but with debit the money is on hold until it drops off.

it's to verify you have legit access to the bank card , the money is returned , you need'nt worry unless you are involved in fraud

I have a dent in my forehead where I've been banging my head over and over repeating it's just a credit card verification!!
