Friends Network Unreachable

Hey, I'm having a problem with my friends network with the most recent update and I've tried multiple solutions but to no avail it did not work. I've already contacted support.Please help me.

It's not just my friend list that isn't responding. My entire steam client states I'm offline, yet I can play games as though I were online. What is going on?

Try this from the Steam client

Steam>Settings>Web Browser>Delete web browser cache & Delete all browser cookies

Deleted. problem happened again and couldn't be fixed this way. Solved: turns out when i connected to my vpn before and logging into steam it somehow messed up the chat. I just simply logged back onto the vpn server i was using prior to chat malfunctioning and logged into steam, opened friends, settings, turned off sign in to friends on launch, disconnected from vpn, closed vpn app, launched a game which gave me a steam cloud sync error, continued launching game, exited game after launch, exit steam, opened steam back up, signed into friends list. tada working as it should hopefully this helps others more than the last fluke which solved my chat problem.

Fixed mine after a week or so of trying everything. some times i would get it back for a day or a week doing a system restore in safe mode but eventuallly windows would push a module that screws up the chat so until windows fixes the module or steam rewrites the code where conflicts are present here is the only solution i found for getting it running 100% correctly. Undo the shortcut technique if you used that and follow my instructions in the post above.

Just for a piece of advice however discord is much better than the steam chat in just about every way except you got to convice your friends to dip their toes into the water by downloading the chat program and signing up for a free account. the setup is fairly simple and self explanitory which only took me and a friend only 5 minutes to install, sign up, validate address, friend each other and load pubg. they wont be dissapointed and neither will you as its nice that it autoestablishes chat connections on computer crashes, update restards, accidental program closures and much more with a better sound and voice quality chat program which allows you to do other things like stream your desktop to show friends anytrhing you want them to see without any hassle or costing any money for 720p@30fps and below.

simply change this with "quotation marks" and including a space between your source file and the paramater.
(remember the only thing your adding is "" -nofriendsui and nothing else like the exmple line below)

"D:\steam\steam.exe" -nofriendsui

then save
exit regedit
exit steam client if its not already closed
open steam client back up from the main source directory for the first time
double check to make sure all paramaters have been deleated from your shortcut or creat a new shortcut from the source file if you tried getting it working using shortcut trick or just to be on the safe side if your unsure..

Its also recommended if you have more than 1 drive to do a steam search in a filemanager on all drives which do not contain your current installation and either rename, zip or just deleate any content found on drives where steam files are not suppose to be just to eliminate any chances of conflicts.

you will notice if you have had the chat before and it just stopped working on you that the friends ui will look kinda like its in the middle between -nofriendsui with app shortcut trick and the new friends client but your chat will remain as the new beta allowing you to communicate with your friends again and maintain all the features of the new chat program. This should fix most people's issues so good luck and play for fun once and awhile as you tryhards and rapid trigger cheaters ruin the game for everybody espectiallly if your toxic.

Which buttons are to open the search bar?I completely forgot what the hotkeys are!

its right beside the start menu and says type here to search. i would also first try that settings, web browser, clear both cache as that is a likely solution i never tried which that guy posted above.

I did clean the cache and data base of the brozer, it did not work. But I'm gona try to other way, now.

try using a vpn to fix your problem as i encountered this problem again and my fluke fix from before did not work. i deleted the original fix in my post and replaced it with step by step how i fixed it using my vpn.
