Install COD 1 with Hard Copy CD Key
I have an original hard 2-disc copy of COD 1 with the CD Key, but my laptop doesn't have a disc drive. IS there a way to use the retail CD Key to instal COD through Steam? I tried activating the Key though Steam but it did not recognize the retail code. Thanks

you could try copying the installer to a flash drive and running it that way

If it's not a Steam key, you can't use it on Steam.

Would an external USB CD drive be something, you could consider?

If he's using Windows 10, he shouldn't even bother as CoD1 retail uses the SafeDisc DRM. (which doesn't work on Windows 7-10, and while there's a way to fix it in 7 and 8 there isn't in 10)

That's because as stated, it's not a Steam key. CoD was released in Oct 2003, Steam was released in Sept 2003. If you want it on Steam, the CoD Warchest can be had for as little as $15
