Can't Change Status To Online

Hi, I've been trying to make it so that my friends on Steam can see when I'm on and playing a game, as well as open my Friends list and the chat. No matter how many times I click Friends > Online, the check mark NEVER moves from Offline.

I've tried logging out and then back in, turning on Offline Mode and then going back online, logging in with a friends account, logging out, and then back into mine, and still nothing.

Am I going to have to uninstall and then re-install Steam? Please help!

I have the same problem too. Please tell me if you came across a solution!
I am in contact with steam support but they stick to default phrases and overread half of my messages :(

I am wondering if the browser/shop works for you because mine does not!

I tried (without success):
- Steam Client full reinstall
- Steam-Browsercache/-cookies removed
- Steam Beta (On/Off/On/Off/..)
- Startparameters "-nochatui", "-nofriendsui", "-no-cef-sandbox"
- Steamguard disabled
- %appdata%/Local/Steam/htmlcache folder emptied
- D:/Steam/appcache/httpcache folder emptied
- Manual start of the "steamwebhelper" process before and after the client start

I think you should go to offline mode (right up corner Steam -> Go to offline mode) and after this go to online mode. It worked for me.

I have my friends list open and on there it say I'm online, in my library I know I'm online because the news and updates bar is showing, if I were still in offline mode that wouldn't be there because I tested to see what changes in the library and that's the change so I know I'm online in some way, shape, or form, but at the top right corner my name is greyed out like I'm showing as invisible/offline

1. Clear Steam's cache, restart Steam.

2. Are you currently in a Steam Families group?

If not, make one for yourself. You don't need to have anyone it it other than yourself. And then, restart Steam.

Steam > Settings > Family or https://store.steampowered.com/account/familymanagement/
