Why exactly do you want it to be recognized by Steam? Wouldnt it be enough to get the game to recognize it?

i thought that because the game is ran by steam it would have to be recognised as a controller by steam, but how do i get the game to recognize my steering wheel?

First, check of the wheel (or rather its driver) is properly installed. Windows has a game controller test applet, check it out. Then, DISABLE Steams input mapper so it wont wedge itself between the driver and the game. Then it should work.

No, you open the device stage. The wheel should be listed there.

im sorry but i dont know what to device stage is, can u please explain what it is?

Its a window AFAIR called "Devices and printers" which, graphically, lists attached hardware and printers. It also has some very useful options in context menus of said devices (and ptinters) which include testing for game controllers.

the game still isnt recognising the steering wheel what do i do

I can think of several causes. The typical one being the game controller running DirectInput (or HID, theyre synonymous for tze sake of this discussion) and the game expecting and XInput controller. But i dont know if thazs the case here and i personally would expect a driving simulator to support all types of wheels, period. In that case, using an input mapper (such as Steam) would indeed help. Or maybe the wheel uses some wheel-specific API that the game doesnt understand. One way or another, if i dont pretemd to ignore your doublepost and read it instead, if the calibration works, then the wheel was is properly installed. I suggest you ask in the game forum about the particularities of this game.

Either that, or we can go with my DInput/XInput-theory, work on getting the wheel to work in Steams input mapper and have Steam map the wheel to XInput actions.

I have Logitech G923. Since it's a pretty fresh model I tried to use settings from previous one in most games. It didn't work.
I had either to use the default wheel settings or map everything from scratch by myself.
Only then I was able to use wheel, pedals and shifter properly.
