Changing Steam's Gaming C:\ Library
So,
All my games were originally installed on a spinning disk D: drive, due to space concerns on my old lap top. My new one here has a much larger SSD for the main C: System drive, and I would like to move a few games to the SSD for faster loads and operations. Makes sense, right?
However, there is a minor conflict. Because of Windows (NTFS) Permissions the Program Files folder makes it annoying - not impossible - to work with any thing installed within that folder structure. My D:\Games folder is Owned by my user account which gives me 100% unfettered access. So, I would like to have my Library on C:\ be C:\Games. Not a problem right?
I go to Steem | Settings | Downloads | Steam Library Folders, and sure enough i have the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
D:\Games
listed there. So i tried to add C:\Games. To which i get the error: "Selected drive already has a Steam library folder. Steam will manage multiple game installs in a single folder for you."
In the Steam Library Folder dialog, it shows that "1" game is installed in the Steam Application folder (the Program Files Location) but none of my games are installed there, and the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Games directory is empty. However, I cannot remove that folder as a Library folder, even though my D:\Games is the Default folder.
How can I tell steam that the "Library" folder for the C:\ drive should be C:\Games and Not a sub folder of the Steam Windows application?

Thanks

You can't make another library folder on a drive that already has one and the steam folder has a folder called Steamlibrary and it has to be in that folder.
Your only option is to move the steam installation folder to that folder instead.

What specific problems do you get if you use the default folder?

found that by editing the libraryfolders.vdf you can add it manually.

Ok.. I bet that might lead to problems at some point. Remember to try to undo this when/if you experience steam issues some day.

To change the C:\ library, uninstall Steam from your computer and open the installer again, when you get choose install location, set the install location where your other steam library is on your C:\ folder.
