Serious downloading issues with BT?

Alright, so this has been a recurring issue for me. My download speeds are pretty much non existent constantly, it's already taken me 3 days to download GTA V (and it isnt even finished yet). The network constantly dips to practically nothing. Does anyone else suffer this? If so, any solutions would be much appreciated

Steam doesn't cap your download rate nor is it supposed to be inconsistent.

So BT must be throttling my download speeds or something? It's been driving me insane for the past few days

Yeah, I've checked my download speed already. Last time i checked it was around 4mb/s download, which is pretty ♥♥♥♥. Though, when im not downloading, it sits around 20mb/s. I'm thinking my download is being throttled

Done that too. They had me test my speed on their website, and since i wasn't downloading it turned up higher than usual. If it turns out that they're throttling it I'll probably split with them as soon as our contract expires. I'm really looking to find out if anyone else is using BT and suffering from the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i am though

BT a ♥♥♥♥ most of the time.
Sporadic drops here and there.
I don't live in Glasgee though. I'm South of England.

Thank god it isnt just me. I've been getting all the "Oh, we'll never throttle your connection" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on every single fourm i've read. Good to know though, I'll have to bring this up with them. Online gaming is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrendus for me too actually, luckily I'm mostly a single player guy anyway...

If you are thinking about switching ISP, I'd recommend going Virgin mate. I've been with Virgin media for 12 years and have only ever had, maybe 3 short outages lasting a few hours. I've never noticed my speed being throttled either. Only downside is they're expensive. £40/month for broadband alone.

I'm 100% paying for unlimited fiber optic blah blah... £50/month easily anyway. I'd totally be like "improve this or i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bail" but the thing is I'm locked into a contract with them, so they have me by the balls here really... As for Sky, I had them a few years ago but they're complete ♥♥♥♥ in my area, they were the very reason we switched to BT. As for Virgin though, I've heard they're pretty good in my area, so as soon as this contract expires I'll probably be looking elsewhere

I live in a town about 10 miles outside glasgow, so I'm not in the city as such, but most people around here (in fairness, I know very few PC gamers) don't really complain about their connection speeds. I take it the throttling issue must not apply to consoles, since most of my friends are console users. And yeah, I've realised I'm being ripped off since I was promised download speeds of up to 80mb/s (or something like that) and at best I get 20mb/s. Still sitting at around 4mb/s right now though

I'll be sure to get in touch then. Just show my disdain for how ♥♥♥♥ my internet is right now, see if it goes any faster "conveniently". And yeah, their wording is pretty sly. They made sure to remind me of the 'Upto' part last time i spoke to them. I'll probably ditch them once this contract is up, thanks for all your help bud! :)
