[SOLVED] An error occurred while updating Killing Floor 2 (app running)
Hello everyone !

I wanted to play Killing Floor 2 some days ago but this message showed up :

"An error occurred while updating Killing Floor 2 (app running)"

I did not start the game since the last update (october) and it's the only game doing that in my knowledge. I'm running Win 10 (up to date).

I did try :
  • End task from task manager (game, werfault.exe, wermgr.exe, SteamOverlayUI.exe): they do not appear at all
  • Verify game files
  • Restart computer
  • Uninstall and install back both game and Steam
  • Shut down firewall and antivirus
  • Desactivate beta participation for Steam
  • Pray for Satan

I think I've read absolutly every post about this issue and found nothing that work.
I thank you for your time and hope for the best.

Did you make a bug report or something with the game developers?

Also what about posting this in the appropriate game hub?

Hello and thank you for the quick answer.

For what I read was thinking it was more of a Steam bug than a Killing Floor 2 bug. But if you think I should, i'll find how to move the discussion.

For the same reason I didn't post on Tripwire Support Forum but as you pointed it's a pretty good idea, I'm doing it right know.

Wow ! Thank you a lot, it did the job. I had set it as admin for another problem a long time ago...
For once that's the problem and not the solution.

Had the same issue as OP and the steps posted by Eteyes fixed it for me.
