100% WORKING - FIX WINDOWS 10 FPS CAP - (All Games)
Hi all,

After having the same issue of my fps being capped at my screen refresh rate of 120hz (120fps) I found the last step worked for me but others may have problems with the other steps so please follow all of them :)

1). Make sure you DISABLE VSYNC in your game video settings and also in your graphics card drivers. (For Nvidia users go to your Nvidia Control Panel and its in the Manage 3D Settings on the left.)

2). DISABLE GAME BAR - Search for Settings or go to Windows Settings - Gaming and make sure both Record Game Clips and Open Game Bar is disabled. You can also go to True Play and disable that.

3). Search for REGEDIT or go to RUN / REGEDIT. Once in Regedit go to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR
Right-click "AppCaptureEnabled" and set its value to 0. A value of 1 enables it, whereas 0 disables it.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore -
"GameDVR_Enabled", change value from "1" to "0"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\ -
Create key "GameDVR", (Right Click - New - Key)
Create DWORD 32bit called "AllowGameDVR" and set to 0

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\xbgm
Right Click on "START" and set its value from the default "3" to "4".

RESTART PC

Please let me know how it went for you and test your new unlocked fps :)

Why not just disable GameDVR from the settings? That may not come out as geeky as registry editing, but it works and is easier to do.

1) Hope you don't mean turn it off in Nvidia Control panel. Off in games but Nvidia control panel shouldn't be set to off.

You want it set to Adaptive or Fast.
maybe Adaptive( half refresh rate) depending on the game if you're fluctuating fps doesn't exceed monitor refresh rate.

2) Fine

3) Really? fiddling with registry really shouldn't be needed. But then windows sometimes does weird stuff so I suppose it's possible.....

For some people including me who have done the latest update will need to disable it through registry as well to get rid of the fps cap!

Ok fair enough if you use vsync in other games, yes leave it enabled in Nvidia control panel. Majority of people who play FPS games and aspecially competitively won't leave it on.

Yes registry was needed for me like I said above after the latest update.

It's great that it works so well for you and others may well find it useful, but registry edits alone can go wrong so easily for the inexperienced system navigator.

At least add the suggestion of creating a " System Restore " point before attempting your method.

Wait Game DVR doesn't limit your FPS if you won't record at same time of gaming.
