Suddenly getting LOADS of random message requests on Steam
They're all the same thing, just crappy scam site links. Why am I suddenly getting messages from people who I am not even friends with?

For clearance:
I am not in any group chats, which means that people cannot message me through affiliation of those.
Therefore, people cannot message me without being on my friendslist, but yet I am still getting random notifications of "a user is requesting to speak with you" followed by a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ scambot message.

I thought I'd share an update,

It would appear it would most likely emanate from accounts that we're or have been already breached but in the meantime, stick to reporting and blocking as usual.

That's why it's important to not join dodgy groups or register on shady websites, especially if you are starting to list items for sale on there.

I have literally answered this three times and you're still insisting I join "dodgy groups" and list items for sale on external sites.
Messaggio originale di Hatsune Miku:
I'm not in that much of groups, half of them are mines or of my friends, and the rest are non-CS related.

Having also in fact that I logged out on every "fishy" page I could have logged in. As CSGO Gambling websites. (By changing your password should work, it automatically logs out, at least it did for me)

Logging out of a site does not mean that you will forever not be hunted by them. Once you make that mistake, you are forever doomed.

Probably because I was talking to Mr. Hatsune Miku over there, not you. But overall there was nothing for you to answer anyway. You just don't like to accept simple facts.

But it's not simple facts because I'm not joining dodgy groups, I'm not selling items, and I'm not in any group chats, and I am still getting random Steam notifications of people messaging me.
I think my primary idea was okay. To allow an option to disable non-friends messaging you instead of an option to put your Friendlist in Friends only or privated xD
You still need to analyse the root cause of the problem.

There are heaps of possibilities despite your claim that you have not involved yourself or affiliated with anyone or anything.

If It hasn't caused any problem in 7 years of Steam I have, why it should cause now, or why we should find the root? Just disable and keep on with my 7 years, and more.

There is not one person who hasn't been in this situation. It is becoming more frequent and random these days that you can carry on with the daily drama or chores and learn to simply ignore it although it will be a relief to wipe it away.

So, did you receive a chat request from me?
I can actually msg user not on my list from ingame, had a message recently and an invite from someone not on my list either.
That dlore sure to make you a target of sorts alone.
Theres many a smart ass thinks they have that right of you :)
I can say I've never received a message from a bot. Then again, I've only joined 3 groups and I guess they're not one of the groups scammers look for people to scam in.

Yes, I did, and now if you could please explain what kind of exploit you are using to do that, that'd be great so Valve can patch it.
It could be any group that deals with trades, but primarily CS:GO as it is a goldmine and easy target.

Check with the members of all 256 Steam groups that you are a part of, and see if they are having the same issues....:steamfacepalm:
It was common when joining a group chat.
