Increase font size in steam chat larger than in settings
I am sight impaired and when using steam chat in game, for me, the font is still to small even though it is set to large in friends settings.
Old steam chat we could edit the steam.styles file to increase the font size to our liking, however that no longer works as it is not accessed by new steam chat client.

Is there anyway we can costume increase it or are we now stuck with this set font size?

Much appreciated

Increase your desktop DPI and set Steam to apply this. Increasing desktpo DPI (thus all system fonts) is a good idea anyway if you're sight-impaired.

Hey there, Thanks for the replay.
Yeah I have my Scaling set to 175% so my desktop and apps are fine, however the ingame
chat Overlay defaults to a small font when you start up a game. In the old steam chat, I could edit the styles file and increase the font for ingame overlay to be much bigger and making it easily readable. However There is no and or not able to be edited, a file for the new steam chat.

Thanks

yeah the 'small, medium, large' options really don't cut it, especially for couch gaming and 4k displays, sucks how everything gets dumbed down for idiots and the rest of us don't get a choice....

For couch gaming, set your desktop DPI to 200% and start Steam in Big Picture mode. This combo is what I'm using on my HTPC and it works just fine.

My DPI is 275%, this affects the steam UI but not the chat. And no, I will never touch the horrendous Big Picture mode....

... which is absolutely fitting for couch gaming though. Sucks to be controlled with KBM surely, but KBM sucks on the couch anyway. Works absolutely fine to start & maintain games.

I use a gamepad, joystick, splitfish, or whatever peripheral I like for what game I play at the time. I don't want a dumbed down overly simplistic UI, I didn't like it on console and I don't want it on PC.....
