help my library categories arent there on my laptop

i wanted to continue sorting my library until the class begins but my rpgs list has only a quarter of the game and some categories are missing

Shutting down Steam incorrectly can result in loss of categories and other issues.

The shareconfig.vdf usually gets synced to Steam cloud.

If that process is interrupted, your categories are basically nuked.

I keep a copy of sharedconfig.vdf in case this happens.

Re-create your categories and keep a copy of the file above.

1) Set your categories.

2) Close Steam and EXIT it completely.

3) Go to...

Steam/userdata/{SteamID64}/7/remote/sharedconfig.vdf

Keep a copy of it.

Have you tried checking for a previous version of the sharedconfig.vdf?

Choose a time-frame when you had the categories set.

In some cases, categories will return.

Try restarting Steam.
