Mod wont show up

I recently downloaded the hl2 nostalgiville mod, (Which is a 7z file) and when I put it into my source mods folder, (yes i did put it in Steamapps/Sourcemods) It didnt show up in my library after restrting steam. I do have Source skd base 2006, 2007, and 2013 singleplayer, so im not sure why it wont show up. Help please?

Did you extract the files, or just place the .7z file into Sourcemods?

So i have a different problem now, When I launch the mod in steam, it crashes as soon as the loading screen appears, how do I fix?

You may have to go to the folder it self and the mod you are looking for. Double click on it and if there is the exact same folder there, drag and pull and place it one folder back. I am not sure if I am explaining it right or not and it was trial and error for me, plus others in the past have helped me. It has to do with unzipping folders and some times it will unzip itself into it's own folder inside another folder and the computer/Steam can not find it or make it work. Why I do not know.

Also be sure once you have moved the folder properly that you restart Steam otherwise the game wont show. On top of that, if the mod is not an official one most likely you will have to go to your games tab and click "installed" because Steam wont recognize it as a game per say. It is there most likely playable, but it does not consider it a "game". The easiest way to make the game findable after that is to make it a favorite. Then by clicking favorites it will be ready to go. Otherwise I am not even sure it will show up in the recent section either.

the mod shows up on steam but when I launch half life episode two (the game the mod runs on) it launches as episode two instead of the mod
