Can I use Backup feature to install a game on a friend's PC that he also owns?
Hello!

My friend would like a game but the file is too large like 50GB (Arkham Knight) and he lives in a place right now where she has a 100GB per month in his internet.. Can I use a backup through a storage media to install a game he owns?

PS - well, he technically doesn't own it yet. He can buy it, but he won't download it, and will be using my copy?

Is this fine?

Yes. He can buy it and then use your backup to install it.

Yeah, it'll work just fine. If you're going to use the backup feature Steam has via settings, I'd recommend a different, more effective, and quicker way of copying the files.

Go into your common folder (located in steamapps) and find Arkham Knight, copy & paste it onto an external storage device. Secondly, go back to the steamapps folder. You'll find some appmanifest######.acf files. Locate the appmanifest208650.acf file. Copy that to the external device as well. Then just follow the same steps for putting it on your friend's machine. Make sure Steam is closed when doing this (make sure it's closed when he's transfering the files too).

After your friend purchases the game, he'll be able to play it.
