(solved) friends network unreachable

I am able to log into steam with no problem but the friends list is not working, it wont connect to the friends network. I have tried rebooting computer, made sure steam is online, made sure steam client is up to date. I have searched for an answer to fix this but have not been able to find anything that works. Please Help!!!!

Have you reset your Wi-fis? If you haven't already since the recent Steam Client update as it is has been the local network issue, please do so now.

Thank god. "-steamos" works, for now and we don't know how long till this will be broken as well. Anyone has any clue about the root of this problem existing for such a long time?

I have two linux distros in the same home network. One distro works out of the box though. So it is NOT a NETWORK problem.

Turn off your antivirus firewall (I had ESET smart security).
Then restart steam............

The opting in and out of steam beta was the only thing that worked for me. Why is steam so retarded now it is as bad as windows is.

Edit: Managed to find a fix on the subreddit and it WORKS!!! where you would put -nochatui -nofriendsui instead put -steamos

Guys I wonder if you can help me out I've had this same issue on my mac and I've tried everything and nothing seems to work. I've been trying to play an online game on fm19 which I've been hosting for a few months and since this issue popped up I haven't been able to play for a few weeks. Due to this, my friends are unable to join my game because it always shows am offline. Would really appreciate if you can help me out here guys and thanks.

Mine is fixed now after some update. I don't know which one though. I just disabled all the modification and now it's working automatically.
