Friends account suddenly went missing.
Hi guys me and my friend played a game on CS:GO, we took a 20 minute break (because i got myself a cooldown lol) and then when we came back on he couldn't sign in. I kept asking what it was saying but my friend couldn't tell me anything because it was just denying him, and we he requested for a password reset it wouldn't let him. He has been signed out of his mobile authenticator too so he can't have access to that, and he hasn't got any emails from Valve regarding his account safety. They would usually say if they suspended an account for any reason.

His steam id is steamcommunity.com/id/mirreks

All his profile information has disappeared in the space of 15 minutes; it used to say his name at the top (Ryan Howarth), his country (GB) and his bio, his games, his inventory and so on. He's a bit angry so he won't do anything I ask him to. If anyone could help me or him that would be great.

Also if you're just going to comment "valve doesn't delete accounts" please go away because it's not useful and we need a solution not a reply. Thanks everyone

The account is community banned. Did your friend try to recover it by entering the login username?

What does that mean?

It says on steamrep that he is community banned, but he has done nothing immoral. Would be nice if Valve had the courtesy to inform Ryan on their decision and why it has happened if he is actually banned. Don't understand this situation at all.

1) The account got hi-jacked & email/password changed
- explains the sudden sign-outs and email change/password reset email not arriving
2) The account got community banned
- explains that something bad was done by the hi-jacker to get the account banned

1) There was only one sign out and that was after he came back. He was signed out of both his mobile authenticator (which he does/did have enabled) but no notifications came through asking for a code on his phone which means it can't be signed it. Unless there's some kind of steam database leak then there's no possible way it could have been signed into by somebody else. They can't sign in without his code from his phone.

2) He was gone for 15-25 minutes so that would have been some pretty immaculate timing if they did.

Thank you for your suggestions. I'm against the idea of being hijacked but you do have some good points and evidence to back it up.

He disagrees, but I think he might have posted something inappropriate. Even then, I don't see why his account should be taken from him for it. At the moment all I can think that might have happened is his account was hijacked and someone posted something on it but it's next to impossible for them to be on his account in the first place. Any more suggestions are welcome.

Or he gave the Steam Guard code away when he signed in on a phishing website. They weren't really suggestions.

He reckons he might have signed into a site. That's a great idea, and it might just be the answer because it's the only one that makes sense. Can't see that he has any posts on any discussions though, and it wasn't recently that he gave away his account information (not the past couple of days) but that's definitely a possibility.

Yes. The ban's gone too. He's about to try signing in. No idea what's going on today

A mod probably saw this thread and removed it. Or it was temporary. As far as I know, you can still sign in even if the account is community banned. It shouldn't change anything with the login details anyway.

Yeah. That's what had us confused. He can't get into his account yet. We'll see if a we can make any progress on the issue.

Being community banned does not prevent a user from accessing the account.

I should know. Plenty of exp here.

He can't access the account, but the account is online. I'm spamming it with messages like Who's there? and they started typing and then deleted what they started saying. Someone's now playing pubg on his account. We're so confused.
