Also check the software for the headset making sure all the sound channels are turned on and their volumes aren't muted. Check the software and your sound card's settings thoroughly.
Is there any place where I may set the audio output for Steam to use? I'm wondering if it's trying to output its audio to a different device.
Hmm I believe I found the setting in WIndows 10 for Steam but after setting it to the Razer headset still no luck. Is Steam using Flash? Do I need to do something there?
You didn't mention you had the wireless version.
You have a sound card or you wouldn't have sound at all. Something in the computer processes sound, sound doesn't magically come from nothing. The volume mixer in windows is controlling something. When you click on the speaker by the clock it should say something above the volume slider, that's the name of your sound card (device).
If there's an ^ to the right of the text in there you have 2 sound devices (cards). One might be your video card. If one of them says Realtek or Something like Creative Labs or Audigy, choose that one and see if the sound in the videos work.
If that "fixes" it and you care to know why: The non "Realtek/Audigy" one is your video card. You're not plugging the headset in to your video card for sound you're plugging in to the computer USB. The other one(s) is/are your sound card from the computer.
Video cards have sound so they can send sound through HDMI or DisplayPort cables to a monitor with speakers or a TV so a separate sound device (that doesn't plug in to a monitor or tv) isn't needed.
I'm almost at the end of my suggestions.
Something I noticed that's interesting...I cannot hear the trailer audio through the Steam client, but if I copy and paste the page's URL into a web browser, then I can hear the trailer audio. So it's definitely specific to just the Steam Client.
FOUND IT !!!
For anyone else having this problem: Razer also controls the volume for applications in Razer Synapse. I had to play a trailer and then open Razer Synapse, select the Man O War peripheral (headphones) and then select the Mixer. For whatever reason, Steam there was muted. Problem solved :)
