How to buy a gift for a friend overseas?
So I wanted to buy a game for my friend who lives in Europe (I live in the USA). However All I got was some "region block" Bull$hit. Is there any possible way to get something for your friends in other regions?

Also, What baffles me even more is that she was able to buy me something from her region. Which is just weird. How could she break the region block?

Region block or price difference? Two different topics. If its the first casex then the answer to how she was able to "break the block" is clear: Theres nothing to break to begin with!

Hmmmmm... well, her gift to me was 1.99 Euros. which translates to $2.34 usd. As for what I tried to get for her, i think it cost about $5.99 which translates to about 5.09 Euros. However it gave me this "region block" message saying my friend was in a different region and wouldn't let me purchase it.

Post the exact games in question.

And the countries involved.

Perhaps the game is on a ban list in her region/country ?

From what I can remember I tried to get her HL2, HL2: Ep. 2, or Portal. I checked and it's not on her country's ban list... Did Steam change their policy since I last tried?

Games that cost less than $2 or 2 euros tend not to have much price difference.

Games that are higher priced tend to have a price difference greater than 10%.

Any game where the two regions have a price difference greater than 10% will not be giftable to a friend in a different region.

Those games were all less than $1 during the sales.

HL2 right now is $9.99.

When did you try purchasing the game?

Which part of europe does she live in as different european currencies have different price gaps from the US dollar price.

Unfortunately, I cannot remember. I want to say during the Christmas sale, but IDR if the sale had since teetered out or not.

Eastern Europe Romania. They still use Euros out there, though. And I was planning on getting her this goofy game called Panty Party. Ik that sounds like Hentai, but it's actually a stupid and hilarious fighting game.

From you to her... 17.12% difference in price.

From her to you... 14.71% difference in price.

Well above the 10% difference.
