Steam Won't Download
So I've just bought Dishonored for the summer sale, but every time i go to download it it says "Steam error (manifest unavailable)" I've tried resetting steam, resetting my computer, having my computer off for multiple hours, I've tried flushing the config, changing download region, and nothing has worked yet i've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling steam and every game other games seem to download just fine but for some reason dishonored refuses to download and i have no idea why

WTF i have been looking for a fix for hours now. Worst support ever by Steam.

I put in a support ticket about it, because I wanted at least something official, and got this:

"Hello,

Thanks for reaching out, I see that you are experiencing a content server error while trying to install Fallout: New Vegas. This error indicates that Steam is not able to find or communicate with the content servers in your selected download region. This issue could be caused by a local network, software or hardware conflict on your end. It could also be the result of issues affecting a Steam content server in your region.

However, it's most likely due to the increased stress on our servers due to the Summer Sale madness where everyone is attempting to download their new games all at once.

Our Update & Installation Issues article has steps for resolving this issue, but I recommend paying attention to the following sections of that article, as they pertain directly to the error you are experiencing:
Refresh your local network
Clear your download cache
Change your download region
Investigate various anti-virus software
Investigate other programs and services
Test your online connection

If you've tried all of these and are still encountering the error, please continue to test for the next day or so. It maybe that our servers just need a bit of time to catch up.

I appreciate your patience.

TF2 Demoman Main
Jake"

So this tells me a few things:

1. They know it's a problem.
2. There isn't anything that we can do about it because we've tried all the normal fixes.
3. As long as the server didn't take a crap, it'll eventually work itself out.
4. With how long this has been happening, it's likely something they'll have to fix.

Since this has been happening for me since last night, I'm going to assume that we're going to be in for a long wait for a fix. Just as I was getting into Tale of Two Wastelands, too.

(I posted the same thing in another thread, but this is easier than redoing all of it again.)

Posting here so I can subscribe to the thread. Having the exact same issue with literally all my recent games or updates for games I've already had

Been having this problem since 6/22, must have something to do with summer sale. I can download some games but not others.
MoxieGrrl Jun 26, 2018 @ 11:47am
Basically, the support guy told me things I already knew, told me to do things I said I'd already did, and then told me to wait. If I have to wait until after July 5th to play this game again, I'm not going to be a happy camper. I'd love it if someone actually told us what they're doing to fix this problem.

Honestly, I just want some answers other than 'not able to communicate with the server'. I mean, I get that part. I'm not dumb. What I want to know is *why*. If it was just overloaded, I'd be able to get through sooner or later. But it's been at least 36 hours now.
DemonNemesis Jun 26, 2018 @ 11:50am
I was able to get through about an hour or so ago and it downloaded all my updates (Using US: Minneapolis Download Server)
MoxieGrrl Jun 26, 2018 @ 11:51am
I was just using Minneapolis with no joy.

After seeing this I went to download another game, same issue again :\ It's spotty but every once-in-awhile you'll get though, but you are right... Seems like we need to wait for the sale to end (It seems to do this every time there's a big sale like Summer/Winter stuff)
MoxieGrrl Jun 26, 2018 @ 12:07pm
I've actually never once had this problem before. It's interesting. Looking around at older messages for the manifest unavailable problem, it doesn't always seem to coincide with sales.
