winrar not working correctly
This just started happening, and i tried uninstalling and reinstalling winrar, but have no luck. The problem is every time i download a zip file or any file and extract it, it always puts a (1) next to it, even if the file is brand new, and has no copies. Why is it doing this?

when you extract it is the name the same as the winrar file?
do you have file extentions visable in windows explorer? if not it may be doing that to avoid confusion even though the icons would look different.

i think so, but when i download the file it automatically puts the (1) in it after it downloaded. No idea why :/ here is what it does.

How many times have you downloaded that? refresh the folder you saved the file to and make sure theres not already another copy?

its only going to do that if there is a file/folder with the same name in the same folder.

That's the problem though, there isn't. It's doing this with brand new files.

the issue isn't winrar, it happens when you download and save multiple copys of a file to the same location. each additional copy the number will automaticly go up one digit. ie (1) (2) (3) etc...

Two ways to test it.
Download and save something to a different location, perhaps your desktop.
Use a different internet browser when you download a new file and see if you get different results.
Stuff you download doesn't need to be a big deal. Perhaps a couple pictures off of imgur.

on microsoft edge it does the same thing, it downloads it and when it asks me to extract, before i even extract it already has (1)

it appears to not do this if i save the file, for some reason. still annoying that it sarted adding the (1) to every thing else i extract :/

There is a ton of free pack/unpack programs out there, get one of those, 7-Zip is a good program imo.

Only thing Winrar does better is packing rarfiles (is anyone even using that anymore), because they are the only ones who is allowed to do that, all other pack/unpack tools unpack rarfiles just fine.

Yes, you do that, don't waste more time on a demoversion of winrar, I hope it will fix the issue.
