What is GameShield DRM?

I was browsing my wishlist of games that I wanna buy from my Wishlist and was double-checking it all, and when I came across L.A. Noire, I scroll down on the store page to see it says "Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: GameShield". I've never heard of GameShield, is it intrusive DRM like Denuvo, GFWL, and uPlay? Does it mean that I have to download some kind of client off Steam in order to run it or that I have to be connected to a server(or do server checks) off of Steam to be able to play it? Does it mean I can only install the game a certain amount of times?
