Steam Cuts Internet Connection While In Game
Hi there Steam Community. I recently moved my computer to another part of the house. Before, I could happily play any game and I will always have connection. Now, I will start up my PC, have internet connection, but as soon as I start a game it cuts off, and you can see it cuts off in the tast bar notification.

Any help will be appreciated.

It's always been fine up until I moved it. We havent changed any settings with wifi or my PC. And I get connection before I play anyway.

Yeah, that's the thing about wifi, positioning can be a huge factor.
Use a wifi signal app thing on your smartphone to try see where the signal is good, better and so on. Here is a good one for android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vrem.wifianalyzer&hl=en

Found this with a quick google: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/40252-42-wifi-card-disconnect-game-launch
Good tips there, newer wifi drivers could be huge.

Worst case get a new router or a new wifi card. Maybe even powerline ethernet adapters. https://www.pcworld.com/article/2868314/home-networking/the-essential-guide-to-buying-a-homeplug-ethernet-adapter-including-6-hands-on-reviews.html

Google for the name of your wifi thing and the problem.

Thanks for the info Forcen, I appreciate the help. I will give that a try. Just strange to me that it will work 100% when the game is not running.

If you have moved further away from the router or with walls in between expect your connection to be less stable with a wireless connection such as wifi. Especially if your more than 40 ft away. It is just a siganl traveling through air..not wires. Interference from other electronics will interfere as well as solid things like walls inbetween. And of course any siganl loses strengtth the further it has to go. And these are super low strength signals Transmit power is just a couple of milliwatts.. There not meant to go far. You don't want to connect to every wifi in the neighborhood. 5 feet away direct path maximum strength signal. 35 feet away through a couple of walls and a microwave . Your lucky if you can even connect.

I see, it makes a lot more sense, thanks guys. Am quite a bit further away now with walls inbetween so makes sense that it would drop, but wasnt sure bout it only dropping in-game. Thanks for the info.
