Moving countries and region locked games.

Hi,

Sooo a little more than a month ago I was in the Philippines for a month. I noticed that games there were cheaper but will only let me buy if I changed my store preference everyhing to Philippines such as my address and payment method, etc.

So I changed everything to Philippines and borrowed my family's Philippine credit card to load steam money. With that Steam cash I tried to gift a game to a friend back in North America but wont let me because the game is region locked or something around those lines. So I did not continue the gifting.

Anyways I haven't really used the Steam cash until now, Im back in Canada and everything on my Steam is still in Philippines, like the currency in Steam Store. So I bought a game, American Truck Simulator and another one I dont remember. Im able to play the game here in Canada but with my account set up to be in the Philippines.

I apologize for the long story but my question is, if I change everything back to my normal Canadian address and Canadian currency and prices. Will I still be able to play the games that I bought back when it was still set to be in the Philippines? or will these games in my library be unplayable until I change my address back to Philippines again?

While in the Philippines I was able to play my games that I purchased here in Canada so shouldn't it work vise versa?

If those games are region-locked, the lock goes away 3 months after purchasing the game. Feel free to change your store back to Canada, even if there is a lock it won't last for long.

Valve generally doesn't like people bypassing region restrictions and pricing though. Unless you are moving to another country and staying there for long term.

Edit: There are region locks which are permanent, those are usually from retail versions of games sold in physical stores or licensed third-party resellers. Additionally, some countries have regional versions, like German and Australian, due to content laws.

So youre saying if I do change my address and pricing and everything back in Canadian. The games I bought back in the Philippines will be unplayable until April (3months after purchase) ?

What if I buy the games first while Im still using my Philippine address then convert to Canadian address and wait for 3 months? Would that work?

Do you have any article that shows this whole 3month only lock thing?

so bro did it unlocked after 3 mounths ? and btw while ur in canada with philippines adress , did ur games connected only to philippine servers ? i mean u got any problems in ping or somthing ?
