Getting a new Graphics card...

Hello All, so right now i have a HP Pavilion 570-p0XX desktop with the following specs:
Intel Core i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz
16GB RAM
DirectX 12
Nvidia GTX Geforce 1050 - 1987 VRAM

I'm not sure what mother board i have but i'm looking to upgrade to a GTX 1070 or higher...
would it fit or would i need anything else i'd need for it to work

I'm sorry but i have no clue, when i check the msinfo32 it only says that HP manufacturer nore can i find my power supply, though i think it may be 180W, sorry not not knowing ♥♥♥♥ im a rookie at this

Software can't read out what kind of PSU is installed. You have to open the case and actually look at it.

Yep what he said, you have to open your case and check on how much wats your Power supply can generate, it is usually seen on the side of the power supply, it will have something like for example: Rated Power: 500w, Peak power: 600w

It depends on which games you are playing. GTX 1070 should just do fine in all games. GTX 1080 it apporximately 30% faster than GTX 1070, and GTX 1080 Ti is like 60% faster. If you want the GTX 1070, check out the GTX 1070 Ti, because its an upgraded version for like the same price. Its a performance increase at like 15%

thank you all! ill have a look at my power supply in the morning, though what is the recommended amount of power that would be needed for a 1070 or is any amount good enough?

Nvidia recommend a PSU with a minimum wattage of 500W for a GTX 1070. It's a good idea to get a Gold rated PSU with 100W more than recommended. Why? Because few deliver the full stated wattage, and the wattage drops as a PSU ages. Gold rated will deliver closer to the specified wattage with best efficiency. You may also wish to measure the PSU with a tape measure so you don't end up buying one that's too big for your case.

Nvidia recommend a 300W PSU for the GTX 1050 so it's unlikely your off-the-shelf system with that graphics card will have a 500W PSU.

would you know how much a 500W or higher power supply would cost?
