Dolby Digital/DTS Live with 64-bit games
I have a Windows 7 64 bit PC with an integrated Realtek audio card. The audio card started producing very loud static noise through analog cables, so I was forced to use digital (SPDIF) connection instead.

By default, SPDIF connection doesn’t support 5.1 audio if it’s not originally compressed in DTS or Dolby Digital format. So that my audio card is able to convert 5.1 audio to DTS/DDL on the fly, I have followed these instructions: https://steamcommunity.com/app/214490/discussions/0/598198356180308529/

The installation was completely successful and every application is now able to produce 6-channel sound.

However, this does not apply to many video games that rely on Xaudio2 engine. Most 5.1-enabled games don’t recognise my PC as 5.1 ready and output 2.1 audio only. Apparently this is a bug in Xaudio2 engine that can be fixed with a simple "file hacking" as per these instructions: https://steamcommunity.com/app/208200/discussions/0/522728269223862395/

I haven’t changed anything in the 64bit versions of Xaudio_*.dll files, since they already had the correct value.

I have tested all my games and the solution works, but only for 32-bit games. 64-bit games (like Injustice 2 or Street Fighter 5) still default the audio to 2.1 no matter what.

I was hoping that somehow has more expertise in this field and could help me out.

*if* its funtioning correctly, you should be able to set your output to Dolby Digital Live and have 5.1 surround sound regardless of sources. DDL should use Pro-Logic to create simulated srround output for any stereo source without having to install any third party software or drivers.

That said, you might run into issues. MS broke DD/DTS for anything other than passthrough on Windows 10 awhile back, and it might have affected Windows 7, I dont know. I know that back in 2011 when I last used DD/DTS on windows 7 it worked great though.

Apparently, the solution was to download patched 32-bit and 64-bit Xaudio2 files from some random guy online. Now all my games are in 5.1 mode.
