Can i run Fallout 3, or Fallout New Vegas on Windows 10?
Thinking about buying one of them, but Steam says it's not optimized for W10

New Vegas will run on W10(I've installed and range with no issues or fiddling required) but I think FO3 requires some fiddling. Rest of your specs mater too but I do know that FO3 does have issues on modern OS'.

New Vegas runs fine but i still did not manage to get Fallout 3 to run. And i tried a lot.

Some guy meant that theres a guide in the F3 Forums that says how to play it on W10, i'll try it later.
Did it run for you out of the box on 10?

I'm currently reinstalling it just to double check. Maybe one of the more recent Windows Updates broke it so I'm going to check because I'm worried about misleading you.
I just know the old Steam version and the box version are just about impossible to run on anythiing but XP without issues... Hopefully something changed, but that game ended up in the same category as the original MaxPayne for me once I switched away from XP...completely unplayable(MaxPayne due to sound issues).
Sometimes it helps to start a game by its exe and not in steam, so it tells you why it doesnt work.

Yeah, XP is the only OS I don't know about. I have the box version too and first played the game on Vista. Then 7. Then 8. Then 10. I finally got the game on Steam between 8 & 10.
Sometimes so hard with older games...took me hours to get Vietcong to work half reasonably.
One example, driver game didnt start on 7. No indication. Putting binkw32.dll from another ubisoft game in its folder, and it worked.

The problem is to find the clues.

Agreed... some games just need a little help.

No worries. I was just curious if a recent update had broken it because it was only about a year ago that I last played it. I can even see from my old saves (still on my system) that I completed the game and started 'The Pitt' DLC. I also played New Vegas around that time. Also on Windows 10. I intend to play that again very soon.
Did you play by any chance a racing game on 10 with a xbox one controller?
That was the most mindbending bug i encountered: A microsoft controller and you cant accelerate or brake. Buttons just barely give "power".

That was the exact moment i used my favorite feature of windows 10: Revert back to 7.

I just cant believe that they missed that. So i wonder what causes it.
