How to move Steam games from Program Files (x86) folder to another one?
Hey guys, don't know if this has been answered in here before, if so, feel free to let me know or point me into that post. After looking for ways to do this haven't found one that seems "reliable" for me so just wanted to ask here to see if I can get some help.

I have all my steam games within the Program files folder, I've recently read that installing games there is not recommended so I just wish to move all my games to another folder WITHIN the same "C:" drive. I don't have another Drive and the posts I've read only talk about moving the games to another drive.

I think it's possible, but I wouldn't want to re-download all my games or lose my save files. Thanks in advance!

Shut Steam down.
Cut (not copy) the main Steam folder (\Steam\).
Paste it wherever you want (C:\Steam\ for example)
Run steam.exe from there.

This will count itself as a new device and require you to log in/verify again.

Huh, easier than I thought. But what about the "original" steam folder, do I have to delete it so the files wouldn't duplicate?

If you're using Cut rather than copy, there's nothing to delete.

If you just want to move your games, youc an already move games from one library to another in the Steam UI itself

properties of game->local files->move install folder

Just make a library on your other drive and go

Note its not 'bad' to put yoru games on c:\. The only issue is that depending on your c:\ capacity you might run into some capacity problems. but modern Windows actually will keep on running even if you somehow get to 0 bytes free on the OS volume.

Thanks worked like a Charm cept i did not need to relog in or verify
modding fallouts etc they hate being in programs folder
this should cut down on crashing i get them from read write permissions being in programs where they would take out game and mod organizer

Thanks for this post guys, Cut worked fine for me. Moved it to my Games folder in preparation for switching to a new computer.

Only Backing up my User, and planning to reinstall the programs in my Program Files I actually use, as there's lots of old things in Program Files.

Only thing I needed to change was rebuild some Mods so that the shortcuts would be correct to be safe like Rebuilded and Aemulus Package Manager.
