Linking UPlay to Steam

Is it possible to do this without launching a Ubisoft game from Steam?

I currently do not own and Ubi games (on pc)
But I have an existing account (with loads of currency)
I would like to link that account to my Steam account and purchase Farcry 5 through UPlay.
Can someone help me figure this out? I only see links to link a Facebook, Twitch, and one other icon I don't recognize.

i think what you want to do is add a non steam game ,
open library , at the bottom left open add a game , select non-steam ,

So once I purchase from UPlay just add a game as descirbed above and it will auto prompt to link accounts?

read thru the link i put up , so you do it trouble free .
you may need to be logged in to uplay for the game to launch , i't been awhile and i dont remember exactly how it works

No. Games bought from UPLAY cant be linked to Steam. You can only add them as a non steam game like every other game that is not on Steam. But that just gives you a link to start the game on Steam, the game will still need UPLAY to run at all and you have no Steam functionality like achievements or gametime counter.

Only if you buy a UPLAY game directly on the Steam Store do you have full connectivity between Steam and UPLAY and can link the accounts.

That was my original source. The only info about linking a Steam account is "Simply launch a UPlay game from Steam and you will be prompted"

Idk, guess Ill just wait for Steam release, thanks anyways

should work fine , i've done it with games , i remember it was always best to login to uplay before launching thru steam (farcry 3)
steam achievements probably wont work (not a "steam" game)

I dont understand this. What if i have Far Cry Primal and Rainbow six siege and Assassin's Creed Black Flag on Uplay? These games are also on Steam. And people who have it on steam and click "PLAY" button, it opens uplay and launches the game. So it's the same... so why can't i link these two platforms?

Because buying Eainbow Six on Steam and buying Rainbow Six on Uplay results the same. You have to play it on Uplay anyways.

Talk to Ubisoft about that. They wanted to use their own service.
