PS4 controller works for some games, but not others

Hello,

Current setup:
4 Mayflash F300 joysticks hooked up to PC (arcade style)

For some games which require 2 analog sticks, I connect PS4 controllers via bluetooth. These are mapped to XBOX 360 controllers via DS4Windows.

So, for a game like Not Dying Today, the controller works perfectly fine. But, for a game like Gauntlet, I can't even press Start to get into the game. The controller is definitely being registered as connected since I can use the touchpad to control the mouse. I can get into this game just fine with the 4 joysticks - but as some of you already are guessing, the elf and wizard won't be able to shoot - that's why the need for the PS4 controllers.

So question - do some games automatically map the first 4 controllers connected to the PC as players 1 - 4? I noticed for Double Dragon Neon, it doesn't matter which controller I press start on, "Controller 1" is always mapped to a particular joystick, and "Controller 2" is mapped to another, leaving the other 2 joysticks inoperable. I assume the same thing is happening in Gauntlet where it automatically maps my 4 joysticks as players 1-4, so that any additional controllers I connect are inoperable.

Anyone know of any workarounds? Please note, that I do not wish to unplug any of the joysticks as they are all configured in various emulators and are seated in an arcade control panel (I'd have to unscrew the panel to take the controllers out)

If you use DS4windows then make sure you have unchecked every checkbox in the general steam controller settings.

If you did that then everything else is between controller, the game and DS4windows. Easier to troubleshoot.

so i've unchecked all the boxes in general steam controller settings.
relaunched Gauntlet
in DS4Windows the PS4 controller Options button is mapped to XBOX 360 [Start].
i mash Options on the opening screen, and still unable to get in.
my 4 joysticks still work though
any other ideas?
