I have an american $50 gift card and can it be redeemed in germany?

Where you get this gift card from? Do you have proof of receipt?

Invalid means its not a valid Steam code.
I activated Russian, German, American and UK Steam Wallet cards on my account, all without a problem.
Steam Wallet Cards have no regional restrictions.

If you got the code from another user he most likely scammed you.
If not contact the shop where you bought it.
