Hello guys! I have steam installed for a long time but after i updated it this morning i got stuck with this error. I've had tried all the methods possible, deleted the valve registry like i found on the web, did a fresh install and still the same thing. I'm running out of ideas and it's frustrating. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Edit: Forgot to say the problem is with cs 1.6 or condition zero and i'm still using Win XP Sp3.

I got exactly the same. A solution would be very nice.

btw this doesn´t help:

You have to delete the registry files.
At first close Steam.
press windowsbutton + R
type in the field regedit
then delete the valve folders.
Hkey_Current_User\software\valve\ <--delete valve folder
Hkey_Local_Machine\software\valve\ <--delete valve folder.

now start steam.

The new update fixed it for me. Hope it did for all of you, thanks!
Edit: with this new update the in-game overlay doesn't work anymore... i tried changing the button with no effect. I can't acces steam while in-game.
