Partial fix for download progress resetting
So I've been trying to download Vermintide 2 for a couple of days now, and every time I restart my PC, the download resets to 0%. This isn't fun when your connection peaks at 1mb/s (at 2am). I tried this fix but unfortunately it didn't work for me. What did (sort of) work was:

  1. Pause download in Steam
  2. Navigate to ~\steamapps\downloading
  3. Find the folder with the <game id> of the failed download. In the case of Vermintide 2, it's 552500. See here.[imgur.com] For VT2, the contents of this folder look like this.[imgur.com]
  4. In a second Explorer window, navigate to the ~\steamapps\common folder, and locate the folder[imgur.com] for the game you're trying to download.
  5. Copy the contents of the downloading folder (VT2: ~\steamapps\downloading\552500\*.*) into the game install folder (VT2: ~\steamapps\common\Vermintide 2\)
  6. Rename the game install folder (anything will do, I just added an underscore to the end).
  7. In the Steam app, go to your library. Right click the game you're trying to download and click "Uninstall".
  8. Go back to ~\steamapps\common\ and return the folder you renamed in 6 to it's original name.
  9. In the Steam app, start the download again. Steam should give you the "Discovering existing files" dialog.

It'll wipe partially downloaded files, but in my case I got back 12.8Gb out of 29. Not great, but it sure beats restarting from scratch.

Just wanna drop a thanks. Worked for me, although I lost several GBs due to partial downloads but better than zero. I read the other fix too but never tried it because it doesn't make sense or sound like it would work for me.

Thanks!

This works for me too, Thanks.

An important note :
- when you do step number 5 make sure your storage has free space the size of your game. For example, if your game is 25GB, then you need another 25GB
- When you do all the steps, you don't need to close your steam client

I'm downloading PUBG for 33GB and I've been download 22GB of it. After downloading 22GB I decided to resume it tomorrow. I paused my download and close the steam client (not force close it or whatever)
The next day the download starting over from 0GB WTF?. It turns out because PUBG has rolled a new update ( I checked it here [steamdb.info]) and makes me have to redownload all over again

So I did this fix and it worked well, although it resumes from 10GB which better than 0GB tho
