Buying DLC without the base game

I know the title sounds ridiculous, but I wanted to buy the Shelter 2 Soundtrack DLC without buying Shelter 2 itself because while I will never actually play the game, I like the soundtrack. So if I buy the Shelter 2 soundtrack DLC only, does that mean I will still be able to get the sound file for the soundtrack in my files?

You could send a digital gift card instead https://store.steampowered.com/digitalgiftcards/selectgiftcard then they can pick up the game sooner or save it later for the DLC.

That sucks, I wanted to buy a DLC pack that has content for Euro truck simulator and American truck simulator because its half of what the content for just ATS is.

Steam doesn't even have DLCs for multiple games -- each DLC has one basegame only.

Double-check how this "pack" works. Since you own "American Truck Simulator", if the store lets you purchase the DLC, then it's safe.

ofc you can buy soundtracks without the game, soundtracks doesnt require base game files to work... it should say that "you need the main game" only for add-on likely dlc packs (like outfits/new chapters/gun skins or even skills) (also soundtracks should say 1you dont need base game to play this content" for soundtrack DLCs (just check some few soundtrack DLCs to be sure)

Depends. Steam introduced "soundtracks" at some point, but that doesn't mean all games have converted their soundtrack DLCs to the new category.
