Can't play my game in Offline Mode... (internet is down)
Hey, guys! So I've been trying to play NieR Automata for the last couple days, since I haven't played in a while, but when I try to start the game I get a message saying:

"Steam is currently in Offline Mode, for the first launch go in Online Mode."

From what I've read, this is some "Denuvo" thing that verifies game files to make sure you're not screwing around with stuff you're not supposed to. That's all fine and dandy, but there's a problem.

MY INTERNET IS DOWN UNTIL LATER THIS WEEK. My service box thing basically died, so the cable, internet, phone, etc. is down for the whole house, and they can't get a service guy out here to fix it until Tuesday. So until then, I'm stuck with limited options. (And it's a PC, not a laptop, so taking it to a friend's house to connect to the internet would be a royal pain in the area.)

I understand the want for this type of security, but it's BS to not let me play a game I own in Offline Mode because of it. Especially since this isn't the "first launch." :/

Can anyone help me figure out a way around this, for now at least? I just wanna play while I actually have a day off of work and school...

Nothing you can do. DENUVO demands that you are online to verify the game ownership every few weeks. If you did not start a game for a while that counts too.
You 100% need a internet connection, at least for 5 minutes or so and then switch to offline mode.
DENUVO should be good to run for 1-2 weeks in offline mode after a fresh verification.

Cant you just hotspot your phone or something, just for a few minutes to verify for DENUVO that you are the owner?

BTW, not related but the final "true" ending of NieR:Automata is only achievable while online and connected to the Nier servers.

I've tried using my phone as a hotspot, and even tried the USB Tethering. It gets the connection listed but has no internet access for some reason. I'm not too versed in using this stuff, so idk if I'm doing something wrong. (I have an Android.)

And no worries about the ending thing. I'm still just near the end of 2B's story, I think, and I never play offline unless I have to, like I am for the next couple days.

Well , have you internet activated on the phone? The "mobile data" option active?

Yeah, I've always got it on for when I'm at work and stuff.
