Can hear sound effects through headset but no dialog?

So i just got this headset and for some reason i cant hear certain things in game but can hear others. The main thing i dont seem to be able to hear is character dialog but only certain characters. For example when im playing out break in rainbow six siege, i can hear gunshots and explsions and all that but when those little boxes appear on the right with a character who is apparently talking i cant hear a word of it. Like legit just silence. The weird thing is tho i can hear the breif banter between the two other opertors at the start of the mission but not my own operator dialog. Now i dont know if this is simply because my character isnt speaking or i just cant hear them. Another exmple is in Assasins Creed 3. I can hear combat sounds and other sound effects and even dialog in cutscences but if say Connor is talking to someone while not in a cutscene i cant hear it. However when i talking to friends over discord or whatever it is we are using i can hear them just fine.I know this might sounds a bit weird and vauge but i dont really know how else to explain it.I legit have no idea why this happens and would really like to sort it out if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Probably you need to go into the settings for your sound card and change the speaker mode to stereo (its probably set to 5.1 or something and you are only hearing the rear or front pair).
