Far Cry 5: Authentication Problem

I've downloaded Far Cry 5, I am logged into UPlay, and when I try to run the game I get an error in the UPlay window that tells me there was an error authenticating the game and in all subsequent attempts asks me for an activation key which I don't have because I bought the game through steam.

I tried verifying the local files and running it again but it didn't work. Suggestions?

I installed, played for 30 mins. Shut down, came back 5 days later and it won’t let me open due to the authentication error.

Googled it, found the thread about deleting the ownership directory in the program files and restarting Ubisoft as as an admin. No luck. Emailed Ubisoft, pending their response.

Frustrating....

@steam, you should work with Ubisoft to remove the need for Ubiplay (or whatever their inept program manager is called). This 3rd party system is hurting your business and customer base.

Thanks all for letting me vent. Hopefully someone has an answer. Farcry 5 looks like a decent game.

Make sure uplay is updated.
And that you use the uplay account the game was attached to.

Valve has no say in publishers using 3rd party logins.
