No Audio on Steam games
Hi,
The wierdest thing is happening. None of my Steam games have audio, NONE. Everything else on my computer has audio: internet browser, spotify, other games not from Steam, even videos from the Steam store. I started noticing this after the Windows 10 April 2018 update. I reinstalled the audio drivers but it didn't work. I reinstalled the Steam client and that didn't work. What I haven't done is restore my PC to the timeline before the April update but I wanted to check here first since it's only happening with Steam games.

My Rig:
  • Intel Core i5 7500
  • 16 GB RAM
  • GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
  • ASUS ROG STrix Z270H motherboard
  • Realtek integrated HD audio

Thanks.

SOLVED... A possible fix.

Ok, if you're here then you have done a google search for "no sound in certain games" or the like. If you're having problems with sound in certain games coming through on realtek speakers yet have sound by other means then it's a windows 10 update that made your sonic studios or msi audio or the like obsolete.

The fix is simple... uninstall these applications that conflict with the sound. I uninstalled Asus Sonic Studios 3 (unaffiliated) and my speakers were back in working order.

Basically, these applications make it so the sound in game is redirected elsewhere in some fashion. So simply getting rid of these conflicting applications may make your speaker system work.

I have laptop MSI. I deleted similar program for this producent - Nahimic and it resolved problem. I have sound now. Probably problem is with sound managers.

@[H3xaMinE] thx for suggestion.

So I was having the same problem. AS USUAL its something dumb as ♥♥♥♥. If anyone has this same issue and has an Alienware product, try exiting out or deleting Alienware Sound Center. Problem solved.
IT JUST FXXKING WORKED. I did so for Sekiro but when I do it for darkest dungeons for some dumb reason it turned all sounds of the computer off. I probably should have tried that again earlier instead of randomly browsing and wasting 2 days of time.

You're my hero. I have an Alienware and exiting out of Alienware Sound Center fixed it for me, too.

This fixed the problem for me. Thank you so much!
hello would like some help with this issue. I don't have sonic studio to delete so would there be another name or program I could delete instead? I use a UE boom and yes it works on all games except GTA 5, TRINE 2, TITANFALL and even my Starcraft 2 will only play through 1 channel which isn't the usual clear sound its got an echo to it. But overall I just want sound on a few games that aren't making noise. If i want to listen to these particular games I need to listen through headphones direct into jack
I have just check my devices the list is:
NVIDIA High def audio
NVIDIA Virtual audio
Realtek audio
UE boom hands free
UE boom stereo
Can anyone recommend which is possible conflict?
im sorry for necroing, but im a former game pirate, and i encounter this issue with most games i pirated. if resetting, turning on and off audio enhancements, updating drivers, etc doesnt help, this might help: right click the troubled game's .exe file, click properties, select "Compatibility", and check the "run this program in compatibility mode for..." box and select which one you prefer. but to be safe, click the "Run compatibility Troubleshooter" tab, then follow the steps (i reccomend pressing my issue is not listed here and dont know on each one of them). afterwards, click save settings (after testing the program of course) good luck, hope this helped :)
Also necroing because I think this might help someone: I found that I didn't have to uninstall or delete Sonic Studio 3, all I needed to do was open it and click the "advanced mode" tab, then enable the "device routing" toggle. I suspect the problem had to do with the software trying to direct game audio to the wrong device.

Of course just disabling Sonic Studio III also works, but that messes up microphone settings.
