Help with Astro's Mixamp to PC
Hi guys

Firslty - I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this type of post, please let me know and I will move it if needs be.

Secondly - I'm not very clued up when it comes to sound and those type of things, so please excuse the noobie questions.

On to my question - I've had my Astro a40's (which came with a mixamp) for a few years now. I bought it in 2014 so it's the 2013 version. When I switched over to PC from console 2 years ago, I just plugged in my headsets directly into my 3.5mm port at the front of my PC, ignoring the mixamp, and everything worked 100%. (Take note I use an external mic, not the mic on the headsets, so this is only regarding sound).

Everything still works 100%, but tbh, I don't know if I'm playing on stereo, 5.1 or 7.1. I do have directional sound when I play games - I can clearly hear where my enemies are coming from in games like Pubg, CSGO and any other game I play. In my Realtek HD Audio Manager, my sound is set to stereo, as that is the only time I get to enjoy directional audio, ticking the 5.1 or 7.1 box makes my sound all weird, for example I can only hear sounds from certain directions, and the other directions are dead unless I turn my character facing another way.

Anyways - my point being, I am happy with my audio, never felt like I'm at any disadvantage, but if I can enhance my audio by using my mixamp and connnecting it the right way, I would like to at least try it.

I've read several posts online and some people say it's better to directly plug the Astro's 3.5mm into my PC, others swear by the Mixamp. What would you guys suggest? Also, how do I connect my Mixamp to my PC? I don't have an internal soundcard, so no optical ports. Only my onboard one, which I don't know if it supports anything more than stereo?

Also, If I should get an internal sound card, which one would you suggest? How do these things connect? I've only got one space for something like a GPU on my motherboard, and my current GPU is in that spot - or do the connect another way?

Please excuse all the noobieness and questions - but I'm looking forward to hearing from you guys.

TIA
