missing 1 dollar from visa gift card which was taken by steam
I brought a visa gift card that was worth 25$ and i try to buy something for exactly 25$ on the same day on steam and i didn't use the card for nothing else but that one thing but it denied me saying i didnt have enough funds so i called the company incharge of the card and it said that i have 24$ and the transaction that took away the 1$ was from steam but i never bought anything for 1$ from steam and i check my transaction history in steam, there is no record of a 1$ transaction. What is going on?

Verification amounts?

From my limited understanding, usually companies make a small initial charge, for example $1, to verify the validity of the card. Once that is complete, they attempt to charge the full amount of the transaction and later cancel the initial $1 charge. When the account balance is less than the purchase amount plus the $1 initial charge, you run into this problem where the balance is $1 short and hence the purchase will not go through. Not all companies do this, and specifically I was unaware that the credit card processor for Steam does this. Most likely you will have to wait for the cancelation of the $1 initial charge. I would call the number on the back of the gift card again and try to get someone to resolve this.
