Switch pro controller not detected on Mac
Hi folks,

I can't get my Switch pro controller to be detected by Steam on my mac. I have opted into the beta, but Steam won't detect the controller via bluetooth or usb. I've read some windows users have fixed this issue by uninstalling some drivers, but that doesn't seem to be an option here.

Any advice?

If you haven't restarted your computer in a while you should give that a try. There's an issue that we're working on fixing in macOS Steam that periodically renders the Steam hardware functions (that communicate with controllers) from being able to pass information to the Steam UI, so the controller looks connected internally in Steam but you see no connected controllers in the UI and input doesn't work. I took a look at your controller logs and it seems like you might be running into this, as the controller logs claim that your controller was properly recognized and opened.

I'm having the exact same problem. I'm glad I'm not alone in this. Have you reported it as a bug?

EDIT: Just to make sure, your mac itself detects your controller right? In my case, Bluetooth detects and connects my controller, but Steam refuse to aknowledge its existence.

Same thing happens to me.

Yes, I have no problem getting my mac to connect to the controller via bluetooth. It's a problem on steam's end. I've reported as a bug and encourage others to do the same.

If you go into the main controller configuration screen in Big Picture and connect/disconnect the controller via USB there does anything show up?

Also, Steam automatically lights up the home LED and one of the controller slot LED's on the bottom of the controller when it properly connects the controller, so that's a way to tell whether or not it's been recognized by Steam.

No, sadly it doesn't. I tried many times, with and without Bluetooth connected, but nothing changes. The message at the bottom of the general controller settings always says "No Controllers Detected" and my controller can't interact with anything.

That's the weird part: it does light up a slot. It's the first thing I noticed. However, even when a slot is lit up and the controller vibrates slightly to indicate the connection, nothing happens. I tried launching Big Picture, but my controller can't do anything.

Hello, I have a similar issue faced apparently by several persons : I have an xbox one S controller working fine on my mac (on OpenEmu or any other software), Steam Big Picture recognizes that it is connected. However the controller does not control anything on BP mode and cannot control most games (although it does work with a few games like broforce for instance). I have tried different things like unchecking most boxes under the controller settings (leaving only generic gamepad checked) but nothings works. Strangely the controller is working fine on BP when wired. Many thanks in advance for your help. Kind regards,

I have a similar problem and I keep forgetting and it's so frustrating. Every time I try to switch devices from my Mac to my switch, it won't connect to the other. e.g. right now it's connected to my switch, but now steam won't detect it what do I do, I've tried disconnecting it from my switch, but it still won't work, and when my Bluetooth detects it the controller just keeps scanning and not fully connecting. What do I do?
