Use Switch pro controller normally outside of steam

Hey everyone,

I recently used the new configuration tool for nintendo switch controller on the beta. But now, I can't use it outisde of steam when it's launched, all buttons are disabled.

Any idea of what to do ?

Because steam let me the choice and I prefer switch controllers, that's all :/

It just doesn't work well in Games; it's not going to be a good experience, i'm sorry.
If they require work to get it working, that tells u right there its not a good choice.
It might work on Steam, but other stuff, doubt it.

Controller that works = u plug it in, the OS installs it, u load up Steam, disable everything for Controllers since that is made for custom configs and/or Steam Controllers; and load up your game. Done. That's how it should work, which is true, when using a 360, XBO or DS4 Controller. You can buy Xbox Controllers that come in different layouts, like Sony's layout for example.

From my understanding; Controllers like Switch or Steam Controller have to be configured within BigPictureMode and then saved. And also enable the Desktop option so that they can work from Steam, while u use other Games/Game Clients, like Origin for example.

Okay, I tried a few things in there.

Well, before the beta update, switch controller was compatible with steam if you used "generic controller assistant" option, and it would work outisde of steam just great.

But with the beta, it's just becoming selfish and completly disable it, so I guess I will stick to regular build until it's fixed, unless someone managed to do it.

Because the Steam Pro controller is better, and the face buttons are correctly positioned, and many Steam games are rom hacks of Nintendo games anyway.

Are you launching the games with Steam? Adding them as a non-steam game?
This is a must and it works fine.

It was a really good idea, I tried to add the games to steam, but it still doesn't work sadly.

What game? What binding are you using? You can share it with the + button on the controller.
Are you launching the games through steam? Big Picture?
