I want to avoid adding it to my account. If I am not interested in the game, I would prefer giving it to someone who would want to play it. I recently won this key last week, so I would like to wait for more responses.
Hopefully, someone knows how to do this.
I do plan to do that, but am curious if that ability is available in Steam.
This is one of the main reasons I asked this question. The streamer I won some keys from is quite large and may or may not respond to my question quickly. I was hoping someone here might know how to identify a game by its key.
If not, I guess I will have to wait for the streamer to respond, or add them to my account.
I will have to look for some videos of Kerbal. Was there a particular channel you liked to watch for Kerbal stuff?
Gifting keys is also against Humble Bundle's TOS, but that's not your problem if you're just the receiver.
Just a friendly headsup.
This isn't a problem with Steam keys. At most the key with be revoked. Valve doesn't sell Steam keys, so even if it is bought with a stolen credit card. it's nothing to do with Valve.
You cannot get any kind of ban from adding an unknown CD Key to your account.
What comes to stolen credit cards and chargebacks, that's something Valve can't directly monitor if the transaction takes place outside of Steam, but the key vendor could contact Valve and inform them about it.
From my experience when this happens Valve just revokes the keys. I've never heard of someone being banned for buying or being given a dodgy CD Key. However, it seems I was wrong. Some dodgy CD Keys are clearly ban worthy.
