Can cpu core voltage dropping low affect cs go fps?
I am playing with
I5 7600k
GTX 1060 3gb
8gb RAM
Motherboard (H110M gaming)
and my fps constantly dropping from 250+ to 120, that's not supposed to happen for sure, doesn't matter what resolution I play in, the same fps drops I get in every resolution (like if I go to 4:3 stretched 640x480, still have the same 120fps drop if I am in like 16:9 1600x900).
What I just realised regarding to my friend, his cpu core voltage is above 1.2 all the time (he has i5 8600k, gtx 970, 8gb ram and his fps above 250 all the time), mine cpu core voltage stands on 0.80 and gets up to 1.1 maximum value, but usually stands under 1.0 value. Is this okay for gaming? Can this thing cause my fps dramatic fps drops? Thanks for helping.

I also can not change the voltage in bios since this motherboard doesn't support core overclocking ..

Voltage is fine. If your CPU wasn't receiving enough voltage it would BSOD.
In other words he has a better cpu and gpu.
I recommend you to enable vsync, so you get the fps your monitor can display. They will be stable.

If you want fps that you cant see, buy better hardware.
And dont play with voltage unless you know what you do.

The 8600k is a fair amount better than your 7600k even though it's only one generation ahead.

For CS:GO CPU is more important than GPU, which btw your 1060 3GB is about the same as the 970.

Also why on earth do you have a -k cpu with a very low end H110? Is this a prebuilt.

Thanks for the help. So should I change to i5 8600k, that should solve this fps drop? But i just cannot believe with this setup that is expectable to have this amount of fps drop even tho his 8600k is better.

Enable vsync, and play with constant fps.

You dont see any more fps than that. Every frame after that is just an useless number..... that makes you nervous. For any unknown reason.

Like muppet said unless you have a magical 250Htz monitor there is absolutely no advantage to that kind of frame rate.

What is your monitors refresh rate?

Its 144 hz, but i obviously can see the difference between 144 and 200+fps. Thats why its annoying that it drops to even 120 from 300. If the minimum fps would be 170-180 thats still wouldn’t do a screen stuttering.

You see the drop of fps!
You dont see any difference between 140 and +140

That is impossible by physical laws.
I mean, you could use a 60hz monitor, and you would see 140fps otherwise.
Why buying a 140hz then?
See? :D

"I have nothing to prove that this jump was anything other than a placebo."

Now would you like to read some facts rather than relying on some YouTuber's personal feelings?

140fps are like a picture each 7ms. Thats milliseconds.
Your brain, after seeing an image needs around +150ms to react with an adequate reflex. If you EXPECT whats coming!
That means, even if you have 200fps, your actions are still based on what happened +150ms ago. At best. And in worst case.

And, your brain is convinced that the feeling which more fps give to you than you can even see, is worth a lot of money and wasting energy. And you feel the need to compare to numbers that your friends computer gets. And you cant feel happy without the same or better numbers.

Personally i think, all this says more about brain than fps.

Its not about my friends or the numbers... its about being the most precise in aim as possible and you can do this by having a smooth gameplay only. Imagine if pro players would use 144 fps lock, or playing on 60hz you just can not imagine this these days. There is a reason players need stable 200+ fps, they arent making up excuses why 144 fps isnt enough for a 144hz monitor..

Smooth gameplay = vsync.

But anyway, i think we solved the case.
Specifically you must invest way more money in your believe than what you already invested.
Go ahead.
