This was a suggestion that came up a few times in the past.
why set it on by default.. why not give the option and have people set it themselves..
Nice going for letting scammers have an easier time creating fake accounts for the purpose of scamming and spoofing legit traders.. Just create the name you want to spoof, and awesome, now you have an account that looks legit but with no game count so much easier to scam people..
meh, whatever though, progress for people afraid to let the world know they played barbie.. I owned both barbie games,, no need to hide it..
playtime is important in some games.. like lets say Dead by Daylight, when people cry out for nerfs, then you look and see they have 15 hours played.. So you know it's not nerfs that are needed but them actually needing to get better in the game..
Another point would be hacked achievements, which numerous games have issues with,, blocking playtime means you're pretty much blocking out the ability to tell if they earned those achievements..
Owned games is more what I'm talking about,, someone can spoof a traders account, and hide the game count.. so they own 5 games, and he real trader owns 3000 games.. now that person can trick people who don't know the difference..
you go trade some high valued stuff to someone with 4 or 5 games and tell me how many times that works out for you..
traders want to keep a profile that doesn't look like a ghost profile.. Ghost profile has nothing to lose by scamming you.. a profile with a few thousand games isn't going to risk their reputation to scam someone.
Users with VAC banned accounts say the same thing. Their account was still banned for cheating though.
you're not banned for cheating unless you actually cheat more times then not.. While someone with a few thousand games can scam you.. they aren't going to be as likely to scam you just because they aren't going to want to risk getting a bad reputation.. Bad Rep as a trader is a great way to get yourself blackballed..
As for the game badge.. is that still visable with the new privacy changes.. I thought you could pick and choose which badges showed up on your profile.. so easy solution would be just not putting up your owned game badge..
The 4 most recent badges always show up and you can look at their badge page too.
getting banned for cheating is very very rarely a false positive.. and normally the few false positives had something like Cheat Engine running and they forgot to turn it off..
Most vac banned people deserved to be banned, and were in fact cheating.. Lying about it after the fact doesn't mean you weren't cheating.. if I had a dollar for every vac banned person who claimed they were innocent I'd be Gabe Newell rich..
you're missing my point.. if someone is banned for cheatng they were cheating.. My point about leaving Cheat engine running is explained below..
cheat engine is used to cheat in singleplayer games, but you can get banned if you leave it running while you connect to a vac game.. or so I've heard, never personally used it.. Only thing I use are mods from Nexus.. and I'd never cheat in an online game.. I suck at online games, but I'd rather suck while playing fairly, then cheat and get banned..
Incorrect.

you're getting totally off topic here, but at the end of the day 99.9% of vac banned people cheated and were banned.. and the other .01 did something to get banned, it wasn't all innocent like they claim..
