How to chat with keyboard while using xbox one controller.

There is not much coming up while googling this question. There's some threads talking about binding keys and whatenot. That seems pretty ridiculous. When I play ff14 on my ps4 and want to type, I simply start typing on the keyboard that's connected. Should it not be that easy on steam? I'm playing L4D.

You can do it if you enable the steam input stuff for xbox controllers. Then you can open the keyboard overlay by pressing guide+select.

I don't understand. Are you talking about going to -Steam-Settings-Controller? And then where do I go? I don't see how I can use my physical keyboard and type during a game. The virtual keyboard doesn't respond to my physical keyboard. Is there a manual for this, I don't see any on the forums.

Maybe I misunderstood your question, I thought you wanted to type using your controller? Did I get it wrong?
