Looking for Racing Co op games with the option of AI to fill empty slots or race against
Hi All,
So im looking for fun Co op (non split screen) or Lan Racing games (Sim or Arcade or simcade) that allow AI or bots for the empty seats. I have found a few like need for speed most wanted 2012 but when you use Co op there are no longer bot racers or Cops around the city so you just race each other and that gets boring. Flatout 2 has lan but once again no bots to fill the empty spaces so it would just be my son and me racing and we want to race together against the AI. I want something that if my son falls behind I can slow down for him than both of us hunt down the other AI racers together.
Sims are fun – We have assetto corsa and Project Cars 2 but real players get way to serious with their leagues and rules. Sometimes you just want to race and crash into things (out or resect we don’t do that in sims). It seems like sometimes there is way too much emphasis on single player only or complete multiplayer with a few friends then thrown in with some randoms. I would like those randoms to be AI. Or even true Co op story progression would be ideal. Below are a list of racing games we both own. Oh and wheel support preferable but I can use software to map the wheel to a controller so not huge issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Project Cars 2
Assetto Corsa
Need for speed 2012
Need for speed 2015
Dirt Rally
Flatout 2

Hello,

The Crew is one of the racing games I usually recommend. I'm not sure if the free trial is still available, but if it is, I think you should give it a try.

Hope this helps!

Thanks all, I picked up Gravel as it adds bots to the missing slots in multiplayer. Will look at picking up the crew next but may wait for a sale as I have to buy a copy for myself and son. Sonic Racing could be fun and I will look into it as its not much money.

On PS2 you also have Pro Race Driver (2P + 4AI) and Shox (2P + 2AI I think).

I'm also looking for multiplayer racing games with AI rivals (wheel support, oldish games, PS2 or PC)
LOL, I was seaching on Google and came across this post... where I already commented year ago.

I have to add that PRD on PC has 2P + 6AI (2AI drivers more than on PS2). It's abandonware and easy to find for download and runs OK on W10, but requires some manipulation of the .exe file to run on 16:9 resolutions.

GRID 2 has 2P + 10AI. You can play on split screen or LAN with two computers + two displays. On LAN each drivers gets a full display, but if you play multiple races the AI drivers' points don't accumulate, it's a bit hard to explain. GRID 2 is abandonware too. Runs fine on W10, but you need Goldberg Emulator (emulates Steam for the game) so that the LAN features can work.
