Game requires 64-bit but Steam defaults to 32-bit
I have several Steam games that require a 64-bit processor so I assume that means they have to be installed into 64-bit folder instead of 32-bit folder but my Steam default folder is 32-bit. Is there any way to install a 64-bit game into a 64-bit library while leaving my 32-bit installed games where they are?

Then I don't understand why games are crashing that require 64-bit processor but the games are installed in 32-bit.
you can call the folder 15andahalfbit, that doesn't change anything. You need to have the 64bit version of your operating system installed - if you have that, it doesn't matter where the games are installed.

Steam has always been a 32-bit client.

I guess I'm not explaining this correctly. If I remember correctly, I can specify where my games are installed, ie, either 32-bit (Program FIles (x86) which is where they go now for me) or 64-bit (Program Files). I don't mean the client, I mean the folder that contains the Steam games.

Then it's a problem with the game and not with the way the game is installed on my PC?

Yes. I own 2500+ games on Steam, 32bit and 64bit. All the games install into the same Steam folder under Program Files (x86).
Never had any problem with a 64bit game. So its something on your end.

if your game has both 32bit and 64bit exes then have at it ?
Doesnt matter were their installed, as long as the OS is also 64bit.

Crashing probably unrelated to 64bit stuff, try the latest steam beta.

You could just create a new folder or new drive folder and call it 64bit ?

Your other assumption.

I have DOI, Day of Imfamy, inside folder has 2 .exes, one doesnt say 32bit, it just says dayofinfamy.exe, however it also has dayofinfamy_x64.exe

It is infact installed in Program files (86).
When i launch the 64bit version and check ingame, it is indeed 64bit version of game running. the game will inform you of this somewhere, hopefully, mine does.
Does that make sense?

Didn't help. Two of the games are Unreal Engine games so not sure if there is a conflict there.
