And have you checked CPU temp? At a glance it sounds like a CPU overheat to me. Pentiums don't run hot, but Intel's stock CPU cooler can be difficult to mount properly. If there's an improper seal between the contact plates it'll overheat the CPU, which will then shut down automatically to prevent damage.
Havent checked my cpu temps yet but will get back to you on that. Just before posting this i went into my tower and made sure the stock cooler was mounted properly and it was and still is.
Could the cooler itself just not be good enough under heavy loads? I usually play on low settings on graphically intense games like Bf1 incase that makes a difference.
Edit is your gpu overclocked??
Alright, that's good. We can eliminate one potential problem - the CPU cooler is working just fine.
A CPU overheat crash is instant. The system shuts itself down ASAP to prevent damage, usually the screen just goes black and everything stops. You'd also have howling fans by that point. What you're describing actually sounds more like a software gremlin or possibly a driver. Which is good, means you don't have to replace fried hardware.
no overclocking here btw
That's normal. CPU usage should be high while gaming on a Pentium, I'd be more worried if it wasn't.
Have you tried updating your Graphics Driver at all?
Yeah... that sounds like software to me, not hardware. Hardware is usually very predictable.
It's definitely not an overheating CPU. For the CPU to overheat enough to automatically shut-down, it'll need a serious cooling problem. The instant you start a game the CPU temp will skyrocket and it'll usually crash within a very short space of time. When it crashes it'll usually just shut down instantly. *fingersnap* system off. Sometimes you'll get a Blue Screen Of Death as well as a shutdown.
It certainly won't do any harm, and it's another thing to cross off the list. Make sure you delete your existing drivers using DDU. It's a free App that any gamer should have.
going to go through my drivers and hope it works but in the unfortunate event in which the problem still persists what else could have gone wrong?
Sounds to me like something is unstable. Probably your GPU driver, but it could be Windows itself or even your Antivirus.
This is actually a good thing. Software problems are annoying, but they're much preferable to hardware problems. I'm sure you'd rather re-install a bunch of stuff than actually buy new bits.
