system crashes randomly when gaming
for a while now my system has been crashing in the middle of gaming. Its crashed on me on games like csgo, pubg, h1z1, BF1 etc. but every game runs at 80+ fps (except for pubg) Just about the only 2 games that i can think of that doesnt crash it are terraria and shellshock live. Ive ran msi afterburner only to watch my gpu temps and they never go above 60 degrees celsius so it makes me thing it might mean i dont have a cpu that powerful enough to run these games? i have a pentium g4560 cpu and if it isnt strong enough to run these games what cpu would you recommend? ive been thinking about an i5 but not sure which one.

thanks a whole bunch in advanced to anyone who reads this and helps out!

Yeah at this point it sounds like a software issue like you said if it was hardware he'd be getting some kind of error message with bsod
played some pubg never broke past 60 degrees on gpu or cpu and the usage for the cpu never touched 100% but did jump around from 50%-70%

going to go through my drivers and hope it works but in the unfortunate event in which the problem still persists what else could have gone wrong?
Id say look up how to have windows run a test on your ram and see if its okay if thats fine it could be something wrong with the game

worst case scenario would a factory reset fix the problem?

Factory resets sound amazing but rarely fix anything from my experience.

Worst case scenario is Formetting all of your Drives. That purges absolutely everything, letting you re-install without any lingering issues. It's a pain in the neck to reinstall EVERYTHING(including all your drivers, for things you didn't even know USED drivers) but it cures most software problems.

File Explorer > This PC > Right Click on a Drive and click Format from the dropdown menu.

Be warned, Formatting is the nuclear option. You'll have to re-install absolutely everything from scratch, including Windows itself and drivers for everything. Budget a few hours at least.

I fully expect that'll fix it, if not Formatting usually solves software problems. You're stripping every iota of data from the system and starting again.

Just remember, always Format your OS Drive last. It's the one with the Windows Icon on it.

Here's what solved my random crashes.
1. I have both Google Drive Backup and OneDrive installed and working/running.
2. From Terraria, before loading character/world, I changed all my characters and world files to be moved from my local drive to the Steam Cloud. Once I did that the crashing stopped.

Apparently, Google Backup was locking my world file when trying to upload it to their cloud (not the Steam Cloud), and that would cause the Terraria to crash.

You can also exclude directories from Google Backup and OneDrive, but it's a bit of a pain to accomplish on Google Backup.

Hope that helps.
